Crystal Palace District
District Commissioner - Meribeth
Camp Keyholder - Meribeth
Crystal Palace serves the communities of Abbeydale, Bridgeland, Crossroads, Marlborough, Marlborough Park, Mayland, Renfrew and Vista Heights. The district was created in 2015. The district is named after the Crystal Palace in London, in honour of the 1909 Crystal Palace Rally which is credited with the formation of Girl Guides in 1910.
Crystal Palace has continued to grow after becoming a new district last year. Many units participated in Thinking Day activities bridging units together while learning and sharing our Guiding history. The 71st Guides travelled to St. John's Newfoundland for 10 days in July 2017. They experienced the East Coast, ocean, whale watching, parliament, museums, meeting up with a unit in Newfoundland, and more. In October, the entire district attended a District Camp at Jubilee which was a fun and exciting way to travel around the world in a weekend. In November, the 58th Brownies participated in a wreath laying ceremony for the Royal Canadian Legion in honour of Remembrance Day. This year has been packed with many exciting experiences for girls and leaders, too!
